Ch 2: Euroclydon in Moby Dick

"Euroclydon" means in the New Testament, an east or northeast storm wind that caused Paul's shipwreck on Malta. The relevance of "Euroclydon" on page 11 is that the wind that caused Paul's boat to wreck was nothing compared to the winds blowing outside of the hotel. It's a comparison of something that happened previously (in Biblical times) to the state that Ishmael is in now. He wants to find a place to sleep for cheap, and the Spouter Inn is his best bet. This is a forewarning before Ishmael sets out to sea of the events that he will encounter while on his journey.
