According to research, Fedallah means "ransom of God" in Hebrew. Furthermore, his referral to hemp can be made to parallel with the fact that hemp is made from hashish. Hashish is a drug similar to heroin that assassins in ancient Arabic cultures would use after a kill to celebrate. His name therefore, could mean that he is a being who serves God or mayhaps the devil. Thus, he can be viewed as a force that brings about their destruction willingly, by luring them to their demise or a force that simply symbolizes that they will soon all be defeated, and he simply is performing God's will and work.
