10.) Chapter 51, What is the "Spirit Spourt"? You deduce this based on your reasing and reasearch you care to do.
As the Pequod sails along its voyage, the crew spots a huge spout of water from the sea. Since the spout is so large and close, everyone including Ahab thinks it is Moby Dick, following the Pequod. However once the men venture after the mysterious water spout, there is no whale to be found. This mysterious spout keeps appearing during this time in the voyage; every crew member has claimed to see the spout of water, but no whale is ever around. Thus the spout gets the name "spirit spout"; some crew members believe it is a phantom spout leading them through the dangerous waters around Cape Hope.
