Heirarchy of Being by Bobby Katoli
The Pequod's Hierarchy by Great Chain of Being is:
-The Captian of the Pequod-Ahab
-The First Mate-Starbuck
-The Second Mate-Stubb
-The Third Mate-Flask
-Harpooners-Qeeuqueg, Fedallah, and Daggoo
-The Workers or the crew-Ishmael
The Great Chain of Being is a medieval way of thought. It groups people from highest to lowest just like the Hierarchy of the Pequod, from captain to crew. It was the conceived notion of the scholars in the medieval era of the universe's structure. The people at the top of the structure have power over the lower beings in the structure like captain Ahab has power over the crew. He tells the crew what needs to be done and what their goal is and the crew responds to follow through with Ahab's orders.

Fedallah can't be lumped in with the harpooners. Pip is at the bottom. Ishmael is lower than most other sailors.
