Question 4-Robbie Stephens, Patrick Hennessy, and Vic Tompkins

"...That my vengeance will fetch a great premium here!"
In this passage Ahab is rallying his harpooners for the of Moby Dick. But many believe that this is just a crazy quest for a man's vengeance against a whale. By showing them that there is in fact a reason to begin this quest, this hunt for the white whale, besides vengeance, he brings them all together and assures them that they will recieve a large reward.
"Starbuck is mine; cannot oppose me now, without rebellion"
With the eagerness of the crew to set out on a hunt that will fetch them a record premium, the crew has lost all doubts about this chase. With the crews accepantce of Ahab, any problems that Starbuck has means that he must go against the crew as a whole, not as individuals.
"I do appoint ye three cup-bearers to my three pagan kinsmen, my valiant harpooners."
Captain Ahab uses influential boasts to raise the moral of the crew, and prepare them for the hunt. The most important are the harpooners; without them the hunt could not start.
"...know ye not the goblet end?"
Ahab again shows his knowledge and his expierance of whale hunting. This hidden know-how showcases his skill and past events whaling.

Okay, but Ahab's ability to generate fervor in his crew is very strong to the point that it is "contagious." 5/5
