Ahab's Speech - Patrick Collins

In chapter 132 Ahab has a long soliloquoy with Starbuck in which he reminisces on many of his past experiences and the voyage he is currently on. He mentions that he has been at see for a very long period of time with little or no breaks. He goes on to mention that he realizes that he is crazy and that he is putting the ship in danger, but he goes on to say that he is not in control over his monomaniac attitude any more and that he is being driven by a supernatural force that keeps pushing him and the crew toward Moby Dick. He points out that since he is not in control there is no way to turn back and the ship is doomed (meaning of Peqoud) for whatever fate awaits. This is an important realization.

This gives us a deeply human side of Ahab.
