Pip and Ahab- Alissa Davis

Pip and Ahab have a strange but complementary relationship. While Pip is at the bottom of the Pequod's hierarchy as a tambourine boy, Ahab is the captain at the very top. Pip, especially after being lost in the vast expanse of the sea, feels inferior and seems to go insane. Ahab, who is also quite mad, is powerful and quite egotistical. Thus they are drawn to each other because they are both seen as crazy and isolated from the rest of the crew even though they are complete opposites in age and color.
