Fedallah (Chris Fitzer)
Fedallah, when traces back to ancestral Islamic roots, translate as "the ransom of God" or "in the hands of God." Fedallah was hired to be part of the crew by Ahab, because he believed that he was a prophet of sorts who would assist him in reaching his goal. In that sense, Fedallah, being "in the hands of God," is being guided by some divine power when he makes his predictions. He is said to come from a land, most likely in Asia, when tradition prevails and the modern philosophies and customs of the time have yet to seep into their culture. It is by these primitive cultural tradtions that Fedallah makes his predictions.
