Pip and Ahab by Bobby Katoli
Pip and Ahab become very close with each other. This is quite ironic because Pip is at the bottom of the ship's hierarchy and Ahab is at the top. When Pip rescued after he was tossed into the ocean, he seemed to go mad. Mysteriously, Pip somehow knows now why Ahab has gone mad so he tries to dress and act like him. Ahab takes notice of his sudden change in behavior. Pip becomes delirious after his experience at sea, so Ahab can relate to his madness because Ahab fell into madness after he was 'dismembered' by Moby Dick. After the experience Pip went through he becomes isolated from the crew just like Ahab. These similarites are why Ahab befriends Pip. Now Pip is at the top of the ship's hierarchy with Ahab.
