Shimarah Mehrotra- major differences between the book & movie (better late than never...?)

The major differences between Moby Dick the novel & Moby Dick the book are the differences between any book and its movie- meaning time periods are shorter in the movie than in the book & the movie cannot go into as much detail as the book due to these time constraints.
Most noticeably is the time difference when the crew searches for Pip when he falls out of the boat. In the book they seem to search much longer than in the movie.
Another difference that does not concern time is when Queequeg wants his coffin built. In the book there was not a trance- he merely laid in his hammock after he got up from out of the coffin until he did not feel it was his time to die anymore.
